Who we are...

History:
The Louisiana Open (Nationwide Tour) was originally established for the purpose of hosting an intra state golf tournament for the Louisiana PGA Club Pro’s. Twelve plus years ago the PGA Tour approached the organizing committee of the La. Open to change the scope of the tournament and begin hosting the Tour’s developmental tour (First the Hogan Tour then the Nike Tour and now the Nationwide Tour). This was agreed upon and the Louisiana Club Pros lost their tournament.
Several ex-Louisiana Open Directors (most notably Dr. John Hendry, Chairman and Buddy Guillory Chairman Administration) have been approached and are currently working with several members of the Louisiana State Chapter Gulf Coast Section of the PGA to re-establish the original concept of a tournament for Louisiana Club PGA Pros. This tournament will offer the largest purse the Louisiana Pros will play for. The Louisiana Golf Foundation, a non profit-501 (3) (c) Corporation, was created to pursue this goal.

The entire State of Louisiana. There are approximately 125 golf courses in the state that employ or utilize 201 members of the Louisiana Chapter of the PGA. These courses are located in the largest metropolitan areas and into many rural areas. The officers of the Louisiana Chapter feel very strongly that there will be a minimum attendance of at least 50 Club Pros from around the State.
